Saturday afternoon fun with Gephi and Social Network Analysis – “Cellcharts”



The above image illustrates the grouping of about 300 conference participants, from a conference I recently attended,  by their country of origin.

Although there are perhaps easier ways to illustrate the country distribution – such as an excel bar or pie chart – IMO this graphical representation is both pleasing to the eye, and provides a very immediate view on both the relative and absolute frequencies. 

Since the groups on the image look somewhat like organic cells, from now on I’m going to refer to this type of chart as “Cell-chart”. 🙂
