Social Network Analysis of email traffic (a’ la NSA)

The graph above illustrates my email communications over the past couple of years, some 10000 messages in total.

The thickness of the edges indicate the amount of communication between me (who’s sitting as the “shiny bright” node at the right center) and my email contacts.

A couple of interesting observations:

Again, it’s easy to see that just a tiny handful of all my email contacts represent the  bulk of my email comm’s, but there are a lot of people (or more correctly, mail addresses) , almost a 1000 of them where our email exchange is limited to only a handful of messages.

The conclusion from this graph also – as from the other graphs I’ve done here over the past few days – is that the majority of my talking is with a handful of select people – you know who you are… as so does now, with this totally voluntarily assistance,  NSA and GCHQ…! 🙂
